Franchised bus services 

Five companies operate franchised bus services in Hong Kong. The are the Kowloon Motor Bus Co. Ltd., Citybus Ltd. (which has two franchises), New World First Bus Services Ltd., New Lantau Bus Co. Ltd., and Long Win Bus Co. Ltd. Most bus services run from about 6:00 am until midnight, with some running all night.

Advise: You dont need to buy a ticket to travel by bus. Just drop the exact fare into the box next to the driver as you get on board. Easier still, all the above buses accept payment by Octopus card. When you want to get off, press the stop button. 

Additional Tips: The Buses are all air-conditionned and most of them are equipped with TV sets on which continuous ads are broadcast. (see picture). Usually, there are a bus every 10 minutes. Most buses have a night line which run throughout all the night. The main problem is that there is no map of the route on the bus. It means that you will have to get off when you recognize the place. But you can still have a look at the bus' routes, which are posted at every bus stop. a good way to see Hong Kong cheaply...and while they stop often..time to take your shots of the busy City.
